The Queensland Weightlifting Association is the organisation that governs the Olympic sport of Weightlifting in the state of Queensland on the eastern seaboard of Australia. Established in the early 1950's as the Queensland Amateur Weightlifting Association and incorporated in 1987, the Queensland Weightlifting Association boasts the second largest membership of any state weightlifting association in Australia.

Many International weightlifters, including former British Olympians Gary Langford and Leo Isaac along with Commonwealth Lifters Mike Keelan and� Bob Kennedy and Iranian coach Shokr Fallah have made Queensland their home and play an important part in the development of weightlifting here.

Our State Training Centre at Brisbane's Sleeman Sports Complex is the largest gymnasium in Australia dedicated to Olympic weightlifting and will be the training venue for the British Weightlifting Team in 1999 and 2000 in preparation for the Olympic Games in Sydney.

The Queensland Weightlifting Association is a progressive sporting organisation dedicated to the advancement of weightlifting through education and training. This web site contains articles, training programs and information of interest to weightlifting enthusiasts.
